Country Facts

Two countries face off, but the stat changes every round: one pair is compared on land area, the next on population, then GDP per capita, population density or life expectancy. Tap the country you think is higher, keep the streak alive — one wrong call ends the run.

The rotating stat is what makes it wicked. Knowing Russia is huge doesn't help when the question is life expectancy, and tiny Monaco flips from a guaranteed "lower" on area to a monster "higher" on density. With 196 countries and five stats, no two runs ask the same questions.

How to play

• One card shows a country with one stat revealed; the other card shows the challenger and names the stat being compared.
• Tap the country you think has the higher number for that stat.
• A correct guess reveals the number, slides the challenger to the left, and deals a new country — often with a brand-new stat.
• One wrong guess ends the run. Your score is the streak you reached.
• Get through all 196 countries without a miss and you've completed the chain — a full clear at a streak of 195, celebrated on the results screen. Miss earlier, and your score is the streak you reached.

What counts in this quiz

• 196 countries — every UN member plus Taiwan, Kosovo and Palestine — each photographed by its most iconic landmark.
• Five stats per country: area (km²), population, population density, nominal GDP per capita, and life expectancy, all rounded reference figures from standard sources (~2023/2024).
• Each pair is dealt a stat both countries have data for, and statistical coin-flips are never dealt next to each other — in a genuine tie, either answer counts as correct.

What's not included — and why

• Dependent territories and disputed micro-claims are not part of the deck.
• GDP per capita figures are nominal, not purchasing-power adjusted — oil states and financial hubs punch above their size.

Good to know

• Russia is so large it borders both Norway and North Korea — and is still bigger than Pluto's surface area.
• Monaco packs roughly 19,000 people into each square kilometre; Mongolia has about 2.
• The photos are each country's landmark lead image from Wikimedia Commons, credited on the card as you play.
